Review excerpt
The co-owner Dave made our stay MOST UN-ENJOYABLE. We don’t know if he just not a nice person (my wife believes that he is), but we BOTH believe that not only is he socially awkward, but he is socially inept. But more importantly, he SHOULD NOT BE doing what he is now doing – i.e., a host to his inn (with at least 20 rooms, which is more like a hotel). We felt like we were completing disturbing him at every interaction. We felt more welcome at every stay at every other place, be it a Motel 6, Super 8, a 3 or 4 star hotel in Rome, or a B & B in Ireland, Scotland or France. The food was decent and we met a nice couple while there, but b/c of Dave, it was the most unpleasant experience at any Inn, B&B, hotel or motel ever, regardless of price. Because of this, it also detracted from the nice décor and “history” of the building. I believe that the owners may have bought it from previous owners, or had a company or designer just “furnish,” which just gave it a factory-like feel. One example of everything I just stated was, as we were paying, Dave placed the bill and c.c. receipt on the counter (not saying anything at all, e.g., “thank you” or “I hope you enjoyed your stay”). We stood there for a minute waiting for him to say something (we don’t speak sign language) and he hit the counter twice with his fingers, and then finally said thank you after we didn’t just pick it up and leave. It was like pulling teeth. We also witnessed someone stopping by to ask for a room for the night and even though they were both standing right there, he wanted them to look on the INTERNET FOR AVAILABILITY! By the way our nice room overlooked the Klamath River, but it was directly above the main road to a coastal trail, and another road to an RV park, so there was lots of disrupting noise due to intermittent vehicle (mostly pickups).
