An up-to-date stay at Hotel Pennsylvania
I stayed from May 24 thru May 27, 2010, and this is a fine place! I do not understand the other reviews.
Yes, it is old. But, it has character and class. This is not your cookie-cutter hotel by Hampton. This is a place where you can enjoy yourself. The location is perfect and completely safe. The staff throughout was friendly, helpful, and interested, Yes, there are occasional long check-in lines around mid-day but it took me a few minutes at 10:00 a.m. and they put plenty of staff on. The htoel was quiet and peaceful with soft and nice beds, Everything worked in my room just fine. I had an LCD TV, refrigerator, and a marvelous shower Maid dervice was excellent.
I took the time to meet some of the hotel staff. The painting people were friendly and were reworking every room one at a time. Hallways are NOT dark and bleak. They are well lighted and very nice. The lobby is fabulous and the carpeting always clean. The lobby has a friendly and nice gift shop and "LINDYs" is in the lobby and a wonderful restaurant! I ate there 6 times and alwayu loved their food. Their deserts are decadent and the entrees wonderful. Potions are HUGE so be forewarned.
Most reviews on here must have been made by the cookie-cutter hotel crowd. Maybe they have never stayed at an old hotel. So, I am setting thinmgs right. I stayed in the Club Penn 500 room and found it great. Room was not huge but then again it had a King Bed. I loved that shower!
So... go ahead and book here! They DO try hard to please and they atre re I enjoyed my stay painting
